A tab links to an existing systemd service on this VPS. It gives you its resources, logs, controls, and application files.
- Find your service.
Click Add service. Start typing its name in the Systemd service field and choose a detected entry. Common examples are valheim.service, minecraft.service, or discord-bot.service. Names depend on how you installed the app.
- Name the tab.
Use any label you like, such as Minecraft or My bot. This only changes the label in the sidebar.
- Choose its files folder.
The form fills the service’s working directory when available. Check that it is the application folder, such as /home/valheim or /srv/minecraft. If it is blank, use VPS files to find the app, then paste that folder’s full path. Avoid broad folders such as /home or /root.
- Save and check.
Open the new tab, then click Status. Check the logs, use Files to verify the folder, and wait for two samples to see CPU usage. Folder storage is scanned only when you click Measure folder.
My app is not listed as a service
Adding a tab does not install a game server or create a service. If you currently start your app by hand, create a systemd service first:
- Install the app and confirm the command that starts it. Use its own account, not root.
- In VPS files, open /etc/systemd/system and create a text file such as discord-bot.service. Adapt the template below to your real account, folder and start command.
- In VPS console, run
systemctl daemon-reload, then systemctl enable --now discord-bot.service. Check systemctl status discord-bot.service --no-pager. Starting the unit launches the app; stop any manually started copy first to avoid a duplicate. - Click Add service again. Select the new unit and its files folder.
[Unit]
Description=My Discord bot
After=network-online.target
Wants=network-online.target
[Service]
Type=simple
User=YOUR_APP_USER
WorkingDirectory=/srv/your-app
ExecStart=/usr/bin/node /srv/your-app/bot.js
Restart=on-failure
RestartSec=5
[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target
Example only. Replace YOUR_APP_USER and both application paths. Python, Java/Minecraft and other apps use different ExecStart commands. Keep secrets in a protected environment file rather than typing them into command buttons.
Change, remove or delete a service
Edit tab changes its name, unit and files folder. Remove tab only removes the sidebar entry; it leaves the app running and keeps its files. Delete service files stops the unit, asks twice, moves the linked folder to Recovery and removes the tab too. The unit itself stays installed. To bring it back, restore the files from Recovery and add the tab again. Valheim is an ordinary tab and can be edited or removed.
